Licking Junior High Awards Ceremony held

Missouri Glory Virtue Awards were presented to, from left: Holly Nelson, Avery Buckner, Emma Vestal, Malaina Lonning, Hunter Powell, Tesla Morrison, Jocie Floyd, Luci Todaro, Lesa Haneline, Trapper Adey, Jasper Rodgers, Ashley Rodabaugh, Declan Kelso-Freeman and Brooke Stout.
Licking Junior High School students gathered in the Sherman Hill Field House Thursday for an Awards Ceremony.
Junior High Principal Mrs. Angela Loughridge welcomed students and parents to the ceremony. She honored seventh and eighth grade class officers for their work throughout the year. Seventh grade president was Jasper Rodgers, vice president was Trapper Adey, reporter was Jake Dawson and secretary was Alyvia Turrubiates. Eighth grade president was Adriana Jones, vice president was Abigail Boyle, and secretary/treasurer was James Fairman.
Grade Level MAP awards were given to students who scored Proficient or Advanced on their 2024 MAP tests. Edmentum Growth Awards were also given out by seventh and eighth grade math and English teachers.
Athletic recognition was given to the members of the various junior high sports teams, including volleyball, cross country, girls and boys basketball, cheerleading, softball and baseball.
Classroom teacher awards were also handed out.
Latin Honor System awards were earned by students who had a GPA of 3.7-3.84 (Cum Laude), 3.85-3.99 (Magna Cum Laude), and 4.0+ (Summa Cum Laude).
Magna Cum Laude students included: Paige Akers, Avery Buckner, Adalee Hart, Alex Beasley, Lunden Gilchrist, Olivia Clayton, Lilly Reed, Ryder Evans, Holly Nelson, Kaylynn Rinne and Emma Vestal.
Cum Laude students were: Penelope Huff, Layney Gifford, Tesla Morrison, Bailee Medlock and McKinzie Taylor.
Missouri Glory Virtue Awards were received by several students. The Missouri Glory Awards are prestigious Courtesy Resolutions presented by the Missouri House of Representatives. These resolutions are formal documents crafted to honor the qualities that define the citizens of Missouri, particularly the young people who represent the future of the state. The awards recognize the virtues embodied by students in Missouri’s schools and communities.
Virtue Awards were bestowed as follows:
Ashley Rodabaugh – Knowledge – Learning new things and understanding the world around you through school, reading and experience.
Jasper Rodgers – Liberty – Having the freedom to make your own choices, speak your mind, and live the way you believe is right.
Lesa Haneline – Equality – Treating everyone the same, no matter who they are or where they come from.
Trapper Adey – Law – The rules we all follow to keep our communities safe, fair, and respectful.
Declan Kelso – Justice – Making sure people are treated fairly and that everyone gets what they deserve.
Luci Todaro – Fraternity – Being a good friend and showing support and kindness to others, like a close-knit team.
Jocie Floyd – Education – Gaining knowledge and skills that help you grow, reach your goals, and make a difference.
Tesla Morrison – Progress – Working toward a better future by learning, improving, and never giving up.
Hunter Powell – Honor – Being respectful, trustworthy, and doing the right thing – even when it’s hard.
Malaina Lonning – Truth – Being honest and real in what you say and do.
Emma Vestal – Virtue – Showing strong character by doing what’s right, being kind, and making good choices.
Avery Buckner – Temperance – Knowing how to stay in control of your actions and emotions; not going to extremes.
Holly Nelson – Enterprise – Taking initiative, being creative, and stepping up to challenges with confidence.
Brooke Stout – Charity – Helping others in need with kindness, whether it’s through time, effort or donations.
Two eighth grade students received Citizenship Awards: Alex Beasley and Olivia Clayton.
These youth should be proud of their accomplishments.
