Wildcats bounce back with four wins

LICKING 11, STOUTLAND 1

LICKING, Mo. – After two losses to Gainesville and Van Buren, the Wildcats went 4-0 on the week to bounce back and get back to their winning ways.

On Monday, Licking played their final home game of the 2024 fall season. Licking defeated Stoutland convincingly, with an 11-1 victory.

Licking jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first and never looked back. Jasper McCloy led the way with three hits in four at bats, including a homerun, while Kale Cook and Karson Walker also tallied three hits apiece. The Wildcats stole 12 bases in the game.

Walker also earned the win on the mound, going six innings, allowing one run on five hits, and striking out four.

LICKING 22, PLATO 2

PLATO, Mo. – The Wildcats then traveled to Plato to take on the Eagles in another Frisco Conference matchup.

Isaac Rinne went the distance for the Wildcats in the four inning contest, allowing two unearned runs while giving up one hit and striking out seven.

Licking was patient at the plate as they drew 11 walks while collecting 11 hits along the way to score 22 runs. Kale Cook, Karson Walker, and Kannon Buckner each had three RBIs.

LICKING 23, DIXON 5

DIXON, Mo. – Dixon was Thursday’s opponent, as Licking traveled there for more Frisco League action. Offense was the mainstay for Licking as they were led by Jasper McCloy. McCloy drove in seven runs on five hits, including a homerun.

Licking seemed to score in bunches throughout the game, with a big 10 runs on nine hits exclamation point in the top of the sixth inning. Conway Adey picked up the victory on the mound, going five innings, allowing two runs (one earned). He gave up seven hits but also struck out five and walked none.

LICKING 12, ALTON 0

ALTON, Mo. – Licking began their game at Alton with a six-run top of the first inning. Kannon Buckner and Jordan Ritz each homered in the first inning, while the Wildcats ran wild on the bases, stealing 10 bases in the contest, including five from Karson Walker. The Wildcats played error-free baseball throughout the contest.

Kannon Buckner went four innings, striking out four and walking two. Karson Walker picked up the backend, going two scoreless innings to finish off the Comets. The Wildcats will finish their fall season at Richland on October 8.
