Three seniors were recognized on the Lady Wildcat Basketball team on Tuesday evening, February 10. These seniors were acknowledged for putting in the work outside of practice, being involved in other school activities and clubs, excelling in the classroom, and representing their school with character and heart.
The first senior recognized was Addison Floyd. Addison is the daughter of Jake and Amanda Floyd. She has been playing basketball for 11 years. She plays on the Varsity Lady Wildcat Basketball and Volleyball teams, and is active in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Pep Club, National Honor Society (NHS), Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), and Student Council as Senior Class Secretary. She plans to attend MSU-West Plains after graduation to obtain a nursing degree. Addison encourages future players to “find a way to make a difference.”
Sadie Hutsell was next to be recognized. Sadie is the daughter of Calem and Stacie Hutsell. She played basketball for five years and has been a manager for one year. In addition to being a manager on the Lady Wildcat Basketball team, she participates in Track, and is active in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), FCCLA, FCA, NHS, Art Club, History Club, Travel Club, Choir, Cat’s Meow, and the School’s Rock Band. She plans to attend State Fair Community College after graduation to get an Associates of Art degree, then hopes to transfer to Savannah College of Art and Design to major in Graphic Design. Sadie encourages future players to “do what you love and work hard for what you want.”
Mylie Peterson was the final senior recognized. She is the daughter of Josh and Shawna Peterson and Lynsey and Jake Scheets. She played basketball for 10 years and has been a manager for one year. Along with being a manager on the Lady Wildcat Basketball Team, she also is active in FCA, FCCLA, and Student Council as Senior Class Reporter. She plans to attend Ozarks Technical Community College and become certified as a dental assistant, then transfer to obtain certification as a dental hygienist. Mylie encourages future players to “not get discouraged and work harder than everyone outside of practice.”
Each of the seniors expressed their appreciation and love for their parents for all of their support and sacrifices through the years.
The Lady Wildcats faced Van Buren on Senior Night, and battled hard but came up short, losing 45-53.
