The 42nd Annual Route 63 Car & Bike Show was held Saturday at the Old City Park in Licking. This year’s show featured 76 cars and three motorcycles, and offered first, second and third place trophies along with three specialty trophies for Best of Show, Police Chief’s Choice and Mayor’s Choice.
Favorite oldies were played by DJ’s Big Lew and Ramblin’ Rick of The Road Show, the smells of hamburgers and hot dogs cooking wafted from beyond the cook shack, and the towering trees of Old City Park provided plenty of shade to beat the heat of a July day. It was a great occasion to wander up and down the rows of classics, trying to choose a favorite from among them.
A 1967 Nova station wagon was chosen as this year’s Police Chief’s Choice, and was owned by Chad Coble.
Mayor Scott Ogden chose his favorite, and the Mayor’s Choice trophy went to Bruce and Jan WIlliams’ 1963 Impala.
The coveted Best of Show trophy was voted on by the judges and was awarded to Mick Yeck for his 1966 Impala SS. Yeck said he had only finished working on the car about two months ago, and it has been doing well in car shows since then.
