Community photo, Little Mr. & Miss, Tractor Show and more at Licking Fall Festival

A bird’s eye view of last year’s festival from the upper stories of the mill shows some of the vendors and visitors.
Mark your calendars for the annual Fall Festival “Pickin’ on the Porch” at the historic Licking Mill which will be held Saturday, September 19. This year’s festival will feature a community photo with the America250 banner at noon, with a Mr. and Miss Red, White and Blue immediately before it at 11:30 a.m.
The community is invited to come out for a historical photo, which may grace the walls of the Licking City Hall a century in the future, or be found in a calendar of yesteryear. Mark this point in history in Licking and let your pride in your community show by joining the photo in front of the mill. Stick around after the photo for a hog calling contest.
Three age groups will compete for the title of Mr. or Miss Red, White and Blue—five-years and under, six- to 11-years, and 12-years and up. Contestants should gather before 11:30 a.m. in front of the mill; the contest begins at 11:30 sharp.
The Licking FFA Chapter is hosting their second annual Tractor Show at the Festival from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your tractor and show us why it’s special. The FFA will also have kids’ games behind the mill and will offer guided mill tours throughout the day.
Don’t forget the live music. Franky C brings his traditional country music to the porch at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Christy Paxston and friends will display quilts at 2 p.m. at the Old Fashioned Quilt Turning. See their beautiful creations and learn their history, or contact Christy, Joan Brannam at TJ’s Flowers, or The Licking News for a registration form prior to the event and bring your quilts to show as well. Each quilt has a story to tell and we’d love to hear them.
The day will start at 9 a.m. with a salute to our country and the military.
Vendors will be offering a variety of handmade crafts, food and lemonade from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s not too late to be a vendor—contact Joan Brannam at TJ’s Flowers for a vendor registration form.
Come out to see what’s happening, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a day at the mill.
