There’s a new restaurant open in Licking – Nana’s Country Kitchen, located at 106 W. Highway 32, next door to the Thrivent office. Owner and operator Tina Sisco opened her restaurant, which features home-style cooking, on Tuesday, October 7.

Sisco isn’t new to the restaurant business. In 2002 she ran Rae’s Cafe, which was located on Highway 32, west of South Central Correctional Center. She prefers the location of Nana’s Country Kitchen, in the center of Licking, within walking distance from many businesses and residential areas, and with a parking lot that opens onto Highway 32 and Highway 137.

Nana’s Country Kitchen serves lunch and dinner; it offers sandwiches like burgers, BLTs, grilled chicken, Philly cheese steaks, grilled cheese, grilled ham and cheese, fish and pork tenderloin. Baskets of chicken strips, shrimp or catfish, with fries, pickle and toast are also on the menu. Daily specials are available. The special on Fridays will be fried fish, Saturdays will feature steak, and Sunday will be pan fried chicken, with mashed potatoes, green beans and a roll. Other specials may include meatloaf, lasagna and other home style meals. Specials are listed on their Facebook page each day.

On the lighter side, chef salads, grilled chicken salads and side salads can be ordered. Check out their appetizers and sides as well. A kids’ menu is available, with grilled cheese, chicken strips or a corn dog, served with fries. And don’t forget dessert – how about a slice of homemade pie?

Nana’s Country Kitchen is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. With ten tables and seating for forty, Sisco and her crew are ready to serve. They started last week without much fanfare in order to develop teamwork to best serve their customers. Sisco said even in their first week, they were busy.

To go menus are also available, and customers can call 573-889-9674 to place orders for pickup. Handicap parking spots and limited parking is available in front of the restaurant, but there is more parking located in the back, and a back entrance will soon be marked with a sign.

When asked about future plans, Sisco is leaving things open. If the demand is there, she may consider opening for breakfast. Additions to the menu may also be seen, and she anticipates adding soups to the offerings soon.

An official Grand Opening will be held after a few weeks, so watch their Facebook page, Nana’s Country Kitchen (specify Licking, Mo.), for the announcement. Sisco and her crew invite you to join in the celebration, or stop by now and see what they have to offer at Nana’s Country Kitchen.

Sit and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, or sit and enjoy a full meal,” invited Sisco.
