Licking woman arrested for possession, receiving stolen property

A traffic stop by the Licking Police Department last week resulted in an arrest of a Licking woman for possession of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property.
An officer with the Licking Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Beth Street on Monday, June 9, at approximately 10:48 p.m., of a vehicle which failed to use a turn signal when turning south on MO-137 from MO-32. The driver was Diana M. Wilder, age 41, of Licking. During the stop, the officer was notified by Texas County 911 Dispatch that the registration plates on the vehicle were stolen, and based on the vehicle’s Vehicle Identification Number, it was not registered in Missouri. The officer and driver noted that the passenger side taillight was broken. Plans were made to tow the vehicle due to it not having valid insurance and not being registered in Missouri.
During the vehicle inventory, the officer discovered a black bag in the center console containing a clear crystalline substance in a small baggie consistent with methamphetamine, three hypodermic syringes, two cut straws and one broken glass smoking device with burnt residue.
Also found was a women’s nylon stocking that was tied off on one end consistent with use as a tourniquet. The crystalline substance tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
A probable cause statement was submitted seeking charges against Wilder. Charges filed were possession of a controlled substance – prior drug offense, receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia – prior drug offense, failure to register motor vehicle/trailer annually with Director of Revenue, owner operating a motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility – first offense, and failure to have two approved/properly mounted/visible/red reflectors on rear of a motor vehicle. A cash-only bond was set at $2,000.00.
