Due to illness of some of his comrades, VFW Post #6337 Commander Billie Krewson fulfilled most of the duties of this year’s Memorial Day ceremony at the Memorial for the Fallen. A three volley salute was given by Veterans Michael Mas, Dennis McKinney and John Whelan. Approximately 20 members of the community were in attendance.

The ceremony honored and remembered those who fought and died while serving. Commander Krewson reminded those attending that “wherever the body of a comrade lies, there the ground is hallowed.”

A Wreath of Remembrance, blue carnation, white carnation, red carnation and U.S. flag were placed at the memorial. Then Commander Krewson solemnly saluted the flag placed at the memorial. This was followed by the three volley salute by Mas, McKinney and Whelan.

The ceremony offered the opportunity for both Veterans and members of the community to honor those who gave their lives for the freedoms enjoyed by all Americans.
