The Wade home, located south of Licking on Reed Road, was destroyed in a fire on Friday. The Licking Rural Fire Department was dispatched at 11:36 a.m. on Friday, March 21, to the home of Tyler and Livy Wade, on Reed Road. The home was a total loss.

From March 8 through March 24, four structure fires have occurred in the Licking Rural Fire Department’s district or in the City of Licking. Fire Chief Aaron Greathouse shared that the department typically averages about one structure fire every month and a half.

These fires are in addition to numerous brush fires and other fires, mutual aid to surrounding areas for fires, and other first responder calls within that same time period. March has been an extremely busy time for the volunteer firefighters.

Grass is beginning to green, but fire danger remains high at this time, and the department asks that citizens please refrain from burning.
