Lady Cat Basketball welcomes new head coach

By Tammy Gorman, LHS Athletic Director

Please join me in welcoming an outstanding coach and someone with an incredible basketball legacy to our community—Coach Kris Flood, your next head coach of the Licking Lady Wildcats!

Coach Flood has spent 28 seasons leading the Republic Lady Tigers program, including 25 seasons as head coach. During that time, he compiled an outstanding 530–178 record, a winning percentage of approximately 75%, with 19 seasons of 20 or more wins.

His accomplishments speak for themselves: 15 district championships, nine Central Ozark Conference titles, including five undefeated conference seasons, 11 state quarterfinal appearances, three Final Fours, and two state championships in 2004 and 2012. His teams also earned a fourth-place state finish in 2019 and captured a record five Pink & White Lady Classic championships. Along the way, Coach Flood was recognized twice as the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year, he was inducted into the 2024 Missouri Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame and also was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2025.

Those achievements represent years of hard work, preparation, leadership, and dedication to the game. But perhaps even more important than the wins and championships are the young women he has coached, the relationships he has built, and the lessons he has taught that extend far beyond the basketball court.

At Licking, we are excited to welcome that experience, knowledge, and commitment to our Lady Wildcat basketball program. We look forward to the future and the opportunity for our student-athletes to learn from a coach who has built such a successful and respected program.

Coach Flood, on behalf of the Licking community, welcome to the Wildcat family! We are proud to recognize your incredible accomplishments at Republic and even more excited to welcome you as the next Licking Lady Wildcats Basketball Coach!

Congratulations, Coach, and welcome to Licking!
