On December 5, 2024, the Texas County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant obtained as the result of an investigation conducted by the South Central Drug Task Force. The search warrant was served at a residence on DD Highway in the Houston area.

During the search, law enforcement officers located controlled substances including suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl. Officers also found a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and items used for packaging drugs for distribution.

Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens charged Wesley A. Choate, age 46, of Houston, Missouri, with Trafficking Drugs 2nd Degree, Delivery of Controlled Substances, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Choate is being held in the Texas County Jail pending a $10,000 cash bond.

The South Central Drug Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional task force consisting of local law enforcement agencies coordinated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The Texas County Sheriff’s Office employs a deputy sheriff assigned to the drug task force.

The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
