A wet Fall Festival

Several people attended the Fall Festival at the Licking Mill Saturday, with many walking through the morning rain (with or without umbrellas) and the afternoon heat to check out the booths and activities.

One car seat inspection was performed by the health department before it began raining. For those who were wanting their car seats inspected and were rained out, they can contact the Texas County Health Department and they will set up a time to do the inspection.

Diana Lyles, of Beulah, offered several fall decorations at her craft booth Saturday.

The porch sheltered the musicians of the Three C’s, as they played gospel and country music. Then the rain tapered off and stopped in time for afternoon activities.

Because of the wet weather, the Old Fashioned Quilt Turning was moved inside, with Jean Potts offering the Rock House Vintage Market floor space for the event. Several attended and participation was good this year despite the rain.

“Thank you to all the participants and attendees at the 2024 Quilt Turning. We had some beautiful works of art, great stories, helpful tips, complimentary comments and special friendship. Special thanks to Jean Potts at the Rock House for inviting us to stay due to the inclement weather,” said Quilt Turning organizer Christy Porter.Most vendors and volunteers stayed and waited out the rain, and the heat of the afternoon quickly made several wonder if perhaps the cool rain was better. Though the weather may have decreased the numbers attending, the spirit of the festival maintained and made the day a success.
