Quilt and birdhouse donations for a worthy cause

Beautiful quilts made by the ladies of Boone Creek Baptist Church and the Friendly Quilters at First Baptist Church in Licking, and some artistically decorated birdhouses will be donated to the annual Ozarks Berry Festival Auction. The auction is to be held at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo., on Saturday, July 20, and the items will be available for bidding at that time.
Proceeds from the auction, which also includes a wide variety of other craft items, will be donated to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home in St. Louis, Mo.
Boone Creek Baptist is donating 16 assorted sizes and designs of quilted treasures, one of which, the Sunbonnet Sue quilt, was painted by the youth group, grades four to six, during the past school session. Grades kindergarten through fourth also decorated one-half dozen birdhouses throughout the school session, shared organizer Billie Decker.
Throughout the year the church offers continuing support to the MO Baptist Children’s Home, such as a church-wide baby shower held during the month of May.
The Friendly Quilters from First Baptist Church have worked together providing two lovely quilts for donation. Local quilter Imogene Holland shared how the quilting group shares not only their talents but also enjoy the camaraderie and friendships that have developed from their quilting bee sessions.
