Cabool man faces sex crime charges

Tommy L. Smith, age 55, of Cabool, was arrested on May 22, 2024, by the Cabool Police Department along with the Texas County Special Response Team. A warrant was issued charging Smith with Rape or Attempted Rape – 1st Degree, Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy – 1st Degree (victim less than 12 years old), Child Molestation – 1st Degree (victim less than 12 years old), Statutory Rape – 2nd Degree, Statutory Sodomy – 2nd Degree, and Patronizing Prostitution (greater than 14, less than 18).

The arrest results from an investigation which began in February of 2023.

Smith is being held in the Texas County Jail on a no bond warrant. Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28, at 9 a.m.

The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
