LHS All Classes Reunion

Licking High School alumni from graduating classes 1945 through 2024 gathered with family and friends on Saturday, May 11, at the Intercounty Electric Auditorium.

Denise Mitchell, Rhonda Mitchell and Alison Eckert greeted and registered attendees at the door and supplied name tags.

Billie Krewson, Class of 1985, welcomed those present and emceed the event.

Representing the graduating Class of 2024, Emalee Breeden beautifully sang the National Anthem.

Recognition for LHS Alumni Killed in Action and their families was given. Ronald DeWeese, Class of 1966, Vietnam; and Tyler Smith, Class of 2006, Afghanistan, were honored and memorials for both were on display.

“They may be gone but will never be forgotten,” said Krewson.

A moment of silence followed, and Rev. Mike Gorman, Class of 1968 and Purple Heart recipient, offered the invocation.

All 26 Veteran graduates were asked to stand and be recognized, and were thanked for their service by those present.

A surprised Billie Krewson did a commendable job when he unexpectedly led the school song and was joined by alumni.

The honor classes of 2024, 2014, 2004, 1994, 1984, 1974, 1964 and 1954 were then asked to stand and be recognized.

Yearbooks and memorabilia were shared, stories were told, memories shared and laughter often filled the auditorium as all classes visited and enjoyed each other’s company.

Wilma (Kell) Smith, Class of 1945, Marie (McClure) Barnes and Melva (DeWeese) Watson, Class of 1949, still enjoy each other’s company and attending the class reunions. Several families had multiple generations of LHS graduates present.

Representation included members of the classes of the ’40s – 3; ’50s – 29; ’60s – 72; ’70s – 21; ’80s – 10; ’90s – 4; 2010s – 2; and 2024 – 1; 142 alumni were present. One honored class, 1964, had the highest-class participation at 24.

Herman Hall, Class of 1964, rocked the place with favorites from “The ’50s at 70 Dance Party!”

The Hillbilly Shack food truck was on site with Felicia Shaw, Makynna Thompson and Brentner Miller providing food and beverage throughout the day.

Special thanks to Mary and Roger Hill for donation of the tablecloths and Shelli Vestal at Woody’s Flowers for the decorations!

Thanks also to John Mitchell, Class of 1968, who with the help of volunteers coordinated the event.

Donations were accepted to cover event expenses and provide funds for the Licking Alumni Scholarships given to current graduating Licking students. Donations this year, after expenses, will provide for two $483 future scholarships.
