Lincoln Day event held in Licking

The Texas County Republicans hosted a Lincoln Day event Saturday evening at the Sherman Hill Field House on the campus of Licking High School. In addition to a panel of guest speakers, local candidates also spoke at the event.

Texas County Central Committee Chair Ed Walton welcomed guests, and Jason Akers was the master of ceremonies for the event. After a dinner prepared by Leslie’s Catering, speakers were introduced.

Last-minute speaker Bishop Davidson presented information in favor of Amendment 5.

Pastor Joseph Larson, one of the original Patriot Pastors that traveled the U.S. on the “Shake the Nation” tours, discussed Marxism, communism and Islamism.

Grassroots leaders Lisa Pannett and Stacy Shore, the Shield Maidens of Missouri, spoke against Amendment 5 and discussed data centers.

Speaker Bev Ehlen is the Committeewoman from State Senate District #26 on the Missouri Republican State Committee. She spoke in favor of Amendments 3 and 4.

The speakers then answered questions from the floor for about 20 minutes.

Twelve candidates/incumbents in the upcoming primary election shared a few words with the assembly.

Brad Clark spoke for U.S. Senator Josh Hawley.

Senator Eric Schmitt was not present but sent each person a hardbound copy of his book, “The Last Line of Defense.”

Matt Blain was present representing U.S. Rep. Jason Smith.

Gordon Heslop, who is running against Rep. Smith in the August primary, spoke next.

State Senator Brad Hudson (District 33) and Representative Bennie Cook (District 143) also addressed those assembled.

Presiding Commissioner Scott Long and his opponent, Chance Bland, both presented their campaign stance, as did Circuit Clerk Erin Smith and her opponent, Heather Stark-Reynolds.

Circuit Judge for the 25th Judicial District Zach Armfield, who was appointed to the position by Governor Mike Kehoe, addressed the crowd.

Texas County Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens is running for Associate Circuit Judge this year, and he spoke at the meeting. Asst. Prosecutor Jacob Smith is campaigning to move into Stevens’ current role, and he also addressed those present.

A raffle drawing for a $1,000 Bass Pro Gift Card was held at the end of the meeting, and Erick Terry was the lucky winner.
