St. James man arrested after pursuit

On August 6, Dent County deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation when the vehicle was observed to be travelling 77 mph in a posted 60 mph zone on Highway 72 near Lake Springs. The driver of the vehicle refused to pull over and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The vehicle pursuit traveled though the Rolla city limits and later the Licking city limits. The pursuit was terminated.

Brett Howell, 32, of St. James, was later arrested in Licking. He was charged in connection with the pursuit and warrants were issued for Howell with a bond of $100,000 cash or surety.

The Dent County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, Licking Police Department and Texas County Sheriff’s Office.
