Obituary – Jan Bean

Jan Bean, 83, of Rogersville, Mo., was born on January 31, 1942, in Wichita, Kansas, to Lester and Dollie (Wilson) Bean. He died April 11, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He died peacefully while surrounded by his family.
Jan attended high school at West High in Wichita, Kansas, and at the young age of 17, he joined the United States Navy. He spent four years serving his country, then came back to Wichita and married Vicki Wells; to this union they had two daughters.
One of Jan’s favorite things to do was drag racing. He did this for many years, he even had one of his cars featured in Super Chevy Magazine. Jan also received his pilot license and flew small planes for a hobby. Jan was a Bail Bondsman; he owned his own business for nearly 50 years. He enjoyed going to work every day, he even worked the day before he went into the hospital, three weeks before he died. You could say he was a workaholic. He founded Tri Lakes Bail Bonds in Forsyth, Mo., in 1978 and GPS monitoring in 1978. He was a member of the Springfield Masonic Lodge.
Jan is preceded in death by his parents Lester Bean and Dollie (Wilson) Bean, of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Elwanda Osman, of Wichita, Kansas, and brother, Stanley Bean, who died at a young age; and two nephews, Craig and Randy Bean, of Wichita, Kansas.
Jan is survived by his two daughters, Kelly (Bean) Kinder (Jeff), and Shelly (Bean) Wiseman (Darian), and partner, Tina Hill; grandchildren, Josh Kinder (Trista), Kayla Kinder, Zach Walker, and Sara Hunter (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Jordan Kinder, Ryder Evans, Paislee Kinder, Jase Walker, Maxten Evans, Emryn Walker, Austyn Lewis, Dawson Hunter, Jaxson Hunter and Wells Walker; his brother, Don Bean (Leona), a twin sister, Janet McMillan; and many nieces and nephews.
Jan will be dearly missed by his loving family and all who knew him.
