Ogden, Shearing and Sisco register as write-ins for mayoral race

By Shari Harris, Publisher

This year’s mayoral election for the City of Licking will look a little different on the ballot. The name seen on the ballot will be that of former mayor Keith Cantrell, who passed away January 21, 2025. Cantrell was running unopposed at the time of his death, which was past the deadline for changing the names on the ballot. The new mayor will be decided by write-in votes, and write-in candidates must register with the Texas County Clerk before the election in order to be validated as viable candidates.

Three Licking residents have registered with the Clerk’s office thus far, and the results of their interviews follow. In order to vote for one of these candidates, Licking residents need to write their name in and fill in the circle by their name.

In alphabetical order, the candidates are Scott Ogden, Sean Shearing and Tina Sisco.

Short Bios on mayoral candidates can be found in this week’s edition of The Licking News.
