Volunteer Clean-up Day at Montauk State Park

There will be a Volunteer Clean-up Day at Montauk State Park to help restore the park after it was damaged during the November 5, 2024, flood. Extensive damage was done to the campgrounds, several cabins, the Hatchery, the historic Montauk Mill, and roads, which were washed away in several areas.

Multiple agencies have already put in lots of work to clean up and repair the park, and now the public’s help is requested.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, including picking up litter, trash and debris in playground and campground areas; and raking around signs and posts.

Those interested in volunteering should register ahead at https://bttr.im/7mourn. Volunteers will sign in at the Searcy Building at Montauk State Park at 9:30 a.m. Parking will be available at the lodge.

Volunteers are reminded to dress appropriately for Missouri winter weather. Gloves, tools, and PPE will be provided, along with snacks, coffee and water, but those attending should plan on bringing their own lunch.
