Museum Board of Directors welcomes new members

The Texas County Museum of Art and History wrapped up another successful year at their board meeting the evening of December 30, 2024.

The last board meeting of the year was the first for our new members. Introductions all around didn’t take long as most of us have been in the area for many years.

In about an hour and a half, we were able to distill the events of the year to a pleasing summary. Points we discussed included the success of our summer silent auction, Underground Railroad quilt auction, membership drive, and Cookies by the Pound sale. The cookie sale was more popular than ever because this is the first one we’ve had since Covid. People love the convenience of having a variety of cookies for their holiday guests without having to do all the holiday baking. A few people learned if you get there too late, the cookies are all gone! I hope we are able to do it again next year because it’s a chance to see a lot of friends and neighbors at once, the museum makes a bit of money, and everyone is in a festive mood. I’m pleased to announce the Grinch was at our event and completely unable to stay grumpy.

The museum and Friends of the Library Book Nook will open their 2025 season in April. Hours will remain Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Look forward to a bit of difference in the coming year, which I believe everyone will like. Stay tuned.
