Are you a victim of a washing machine that broke down before the new wore off? Has your refrigerator died a week after the warranty expired? Does it seem like it would be easier to throw away your broken dryer and buy another rather than try to find someone to fix it?
Jarrod Brooks and Ty Lucas are the service technicians of Appliance Heroes. These friends and former co-workers had dreamed of going into business for themselves, and after learning of the need for appliance repairmen in the area, they devised a plan to make it happen.
They trained in Houston, Texas, at the largest appliance repair training center they could find, with both becoming certified appliance technicians. They are also EPA certified to work with refrigerants, like freon. Brooks and Lucas are trained to fix all makes and models of residential dishwashers, refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, garbage disposals, ice makers and more. Currently they do warranty repairs for GE, and are working on becoming warranty repairmen for other brands as well. They also offer installation of new appliances and do cleanouts of dryer vents.
Brooks was born and raised in Salem, where he and his wife still live. He has a son, daughter and son-in-law.
Lucas is a native of Edgar Springs, and he lives there with his family, which includes his wife, five daughters, foster daughter and two-year-old granddaughter.
The duo services appliances in Dent County, Phelps County, Pulaski County, Texas County, and have even ventured as far as Viburnum, Centerville, and into Shannon County. They work on electric and gas appliances (natural gas and propane) and can rebuild some electronic control boards.
Brooks and Lucas have met with some unique problems along the way, including repairs on machines for which parts are no longer available.
“We try to think outside the box,” explained Lucas. “We try to find a way to meet our customers’ needs.”
Brooks and Lucas say people’s frustration regarding appliance breakdowns may be at an all time high. Couple this with long wait times due to lack of repairmen, and it results in more stress for the appliance owner.
Their goal is to arrive within 24 hours to assess the problem. Most repairs take less than five days depending on the parts required to fix the appliance.
“We’re setting a new standard for appliance repair,” Brooks reassures. “We try to go above and beyond for our customers.”
