39th Edgar Prairie Days

This was the 39th annual Edgar Prairie Days, and while organizers initially thought it would be a one day event, Chris Spurgeon brought the MMRA Rodeo back to town Friday and Saturday nights, and the parade was held Saturday morning, changing it to a full weekend of fun.

Several enjoyed Friday evening’s rodeo, and Saturday’s afternoon rain didn’t deter the large crowd that came to the rodeo grounds to enjoy that evening’s show.

The Edgar Springs Saddle Club flag was among those displayed at the MMRA Rodeo’s Opening Ceremony.

Saturday morning was parade time, and this year’s Grand Marshal was Linda Carlton, who was recognized for her service to the community, including the monthly Community Drop-In Lunch.

Sunday started with a cornhole tournament, with four teams competing: Logan Porter/Nathan Wilson, Mason Porter/Ronda Payne, Spencer McNamee/Quentin Porter, and Elijah Ullom/Breanna Garrett.

Dean Gately, Curt Reppond, Jeremiah Harris, Neal Gately and Mark Ziegler grilled pork steak and chicken for Sunday’s lunch, and other volunteers prepared slaw, baked beans, desserts and drinks to make the meal complete. People gathered at the fire station to enjoy the meal while listening to the music of The Three C’s (Wendy Cline, Ed Cline and Rodney Cash), and Colton Miller.

The Edgar Prairie Days Committee volunteered many hours of work to put together this year’s event, and consisted of Mary Ann Brinkley, Jamie Cantrell, Carrie Edgar, Curt Reppond and Jamie Reppond. They are looking forward to the 40th anniversary of Edgar Prairie Days in 2025, and hope to have a full weekend of activities lined up for the milestone.
