When Shellie Ogden, with R&S Track, checked the radar at noon on Saturday, it looked promising for the rains to hold off until after the evening’s Truck and Tractor Pull at R&S Track. Noon was the deadline for canceling the event.

By the time Lone Pine began singing at 4:30 p.m., there was more concern, and by 6 p.m., though the skies were clear, futurecast radars showed red cells popping up over Licking by 7:30, with the pull scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

What a time for the weatherman to be correct. About three or four pulls took place before a thunderstorm stopped the action. Tractors on site to prepare the track between pulls instead pulled out drivers stuck in the mud.

Ogden said they are trying to coordinate a date to reschedule the event. According to Ogden, a $5 admission fee will be charged for all spectators at the next pull, whether it is the rescheduled one or the pull scheduled for September 7, instead of the $10 fee paid by adults at this race.
