Obituary – Christie Ann Shoemaker

Christie Ann Shoemaker, age 73, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
She was born on October 7, 1952, in Rolla, Missouri, and grew up in Licking, Missouri, where she formed the values of faith, loyalty and compassion that shaped her entire life. She later lived in Rolla and Carthage before moving to Baptist Homes in Ozark in January.
A member of Hopedale Baptist Church, Christie was known for sharing kindness with everyone she met. She worked as an insurance agent for over 40 years, building deep relationships through her integrity, reliability, and genuine care for the people she served. She also volunteered with the Special Olympics and Sporting Chance, encouraging and uplifting countless individuals with her enthusiasm and warmth.
Christie was preceded in death by her parents, Wilma and Kenneth Smith; her husband, Mike Shoemaker; and her stepdaughter, Shannon Shoemaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Shepard (Dan) and Jennifer Bradley (Jay); her brother, Kyle Smith (Jennifer); and her nieces, Kayla Smith and Emily Burnett (Michael). Christie was a proud grandmother to Dallas (Brett), Dylan (Kay), Connor, Cragen, Zander and Kinleigh; a loving great-grandmother to Knox and Luca; a great-aunt to Dustin and Sayge; and a beloved cousin to many.
Christie had friends spread far and wide, and she cherished every one of them. She loved settling in to watch NCIS, and she wasn’t afraid to give a playful “Gibbs slap” when someone needed straightening out. Her adventures with her two closest friends, Chris and Carol, were legendary—the three of them were thick as thieves, causing enough mischief that her daughter Lisa still won’t show her face in a few Springfield spots to this day.
She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her joyful spirit, her humor, and the deep love she held for her family, friends and community.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. in Hopedale Baptist Church in Ozark, Missouri; burial will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 3, from 10 a.m. to Service time in the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations be made to Breakthrough T1D, Formerly JDRF, PO Box 5042 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5042.
Arrangements are under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
