Obituary – Doyle K. Gooding

Doyle Kenneth Gooding was born on April 5, 1953, in Houston, Mo., to George B. Gooding and Ora E. (Bates) Gooding. After a brief illness he gained his heavenly angel wings on May 13, 2026, at Missouri University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. He was 73 years, 1 month and 8 days old. He is now walking the streets in Heaven with a completely healed body and talking up a storm to his family!

He gave his life to God at an early age and then recommitted when he was an adult. He attended Raymondville United Methodist Church while his health permitted.

Doyle grew up in Licking, Mo., and stayed here all of his life. He never married, but was always available to his family whenever needed. Doyle graduated from Licking High School in 1971. He achieved the honorable Black Belt rank of SHO-DAN, he loved motorcycles and made a few of his own; he loved the Colorado Rockies and hitchhiked out there one summer with a buddy and loved it so much he rode his motorcycle back for several summers. He loved watching and going to the races. He loved his beloved pit bulls Noah, Hank and Maggie, although Maggie ended up being more Grandma’s dog and protector.

Doyle worked for Barards, George O. White Nursery, and he was a cutter for Rawlings Sporting Goods and TAG Uniform. When TAG Uniform closed he retired.

Doyle is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Dale and Veronika Gooding; sister-in-law Betty Bates; nieces and nephews Jackie and Gary Duncan, Howard and Amy Bates, Lori and Grant Heithold, Cynthia Floyd and Diane Gooding; great-nieces and nephews Amanda and Matt Honigsberg, Brock and Natasha Riden, Camerin and Jake Fester, Karsin Heithold, Blake and Mackenzie Heithold, Betsy and Josh Corkell and Johnathan Bates; great-great-nieces and nephews: Hunter and Aanika Honigsberg, Lanie Honigsberg, Parker Huff, Penelope Huff, Jett Fester, Sawyer Heithold-Strom, Erinn Heithold Strom, Myles Willard, Marley Willard, Braxton Corkell, Nova Corkell, Serena Riden, Blake Masters, Summer Heithold, Margo Heithold and Jack Heithold; along with numerous cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ora (Bates) Gooding, brothers Jack D. Bates and Wesley Gooding, sister and brother-in-law Diane (Gooding) and Robert Floyd, and nieces and nephew, Lisa Floyd, Erin Floyd and Danny Floyd.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

As per his wishes, he was cremated under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.

A visitation will take place Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Raymondville United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doyle’s name to Raymondville UMC or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be left at www.foxfh.net.
