Special Olympics Torch Run travels through Licking

The Special Olympics torch runners gathered at a parking lot near Licking High School to begin the Licking leg of their run.

“Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

This is the Special Olympics Athlete’s Oath, introduced by Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver in 1968. This oath continues to be said today, and t-shirts worn by those participating in the Special Olympics Torch Run, held in Texas County on Friday, proudly displayed the oath.
