Regular seasons winding down for Wildcat and Ladycat Basketball

On Monday, February 2, Licking sent four teams to St. James to face the Tigers and Lady Tigers. It was a rough night for Licking, and St. James came away with four wins.

The JV Wildcats fell to St. James 29-63 in a very physical game.

Phoenix Maxey scored 10 points and Easton Stoops added 7.

The Varsity Wildcats fell to the Tigers 28-64 in a hard-fought, physical game. The Cats played hard and competed until the end, but struggled offensively throughout the game.

Conway Adey finished with 9 points, Jett Sullins had 6 points, and Jason Ingram added 6 points.

The JV Ladycats fell to the Lady Tigers 16-30.

The Varsity Ladycats also came up short, 31-50, but reversed their fortunes the following evening with a win over Alton at home, 40-36.

The JV Wildcats and Varsity Ladycats traveled to Bunker on Thursday to face the Eagles and Lady Eagles.

The JV Wildcats pulled out a win, 47-38. They played hard and figured out a way to win in the fourth quarter.

Parker Huff had a big second half scoring, to lead all scorers with 23 total points.

The Varsity Ladycats were unable to pull out a win against the state-ranked Lady Eagles.

The Varsity Ladycats won a conference game in Newburg on Monday, February 9, with a score of 50-45.

The Wildcats were scheduled to play Newburg on Tuesday, then Mountain View/Liberty on Thursday, February 12, on the road. Senior night will be held on Tuesday, February 17, when Licking faces Plato, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Sherman Hill Field House.

The Lady Wildcats’ senior night was scheduled for Tuesday, February 10, when the varsity was to face Van Buren at 6:15 p.m. and the junior varsity was going up against Mountain Grove at 5 p.m. The Ladycats will travel to Thayer on Thursday, then to Dixon on Tuesday, February 17. Their regular season will end at home against Cuba on Thursday, February 19.

District Tournament games are scheduled to begin on Monday, February 23.
