Licking and Ava split wins in overtime games

On Tuesday, January 20, Wildcat Basketball traveled to Ava to face the Bears.
In the JV game the Cats started out hot, hitting several 3’s, but Ava was able to keep it close throughout. In the closing moments of the fourth quarter, Ava heaved a 3 to force overtime. In overtime the JV Cats held on and got the win, 64-63.
Parker Huff finished with 28 points and Logan Kuhn added 12 points.
In the varsity game, the Wildcats again came out hot, taking a 21-7 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Ava was able to come back and make it 28-25 Wildcats at halftime. The Cats were able to stretch their lead to 6 at the end of the third quarter, but in the fourth, Ava was able to hit a 3 in the final minute to tie the game and force overtime. In overtime Ava was able to get a lead after a couple of back-and-forth baskets and some free throws to win 67-64.
The loss makes the Varsity Wildcats’ record 11-8.
The Cats’ next game is at home on January 30, versus the Dixon Bulldogs in Frisco League play.
