Licking Elementary School’s preschool class kicked off the Christmas Concert with “Jingle Bells.”

Fourth grade students wrapped up the elementary concert with “May There Be Goodwill.”

The Licking Elementary School Concert was held on Monday evening, December 15, and a standing-room-only crowd of family and friends were on hand for the event.

The concert began with Mrs. Clonts’ and Mrs. Williams’ preschool classes. Under the direction of Mrs. Clonts, these students gave a lively and animated performance of “Jingle Bells” and “Silent Night.”

The kindergarten classes of Ms. Cook, Mrs. Luttrell and Ms. Wann, under the direction of Mrs. Kerri Chafin, joined together to perform “Happy Holidays” and “Sparkly,” again with gestures to accompany the music, making them even more spirited.

Mrs. Chafin led the first grade classes of Mrs. Clinton, Mrs. McLeod and Mrs Sullins through “Up On the Roof” and “That’s Not a Puppy.” The students did a great job portraying the confusion of a child on Christmas morning who finds a lost reindeer under his tree instead of the puppy he had requested.

The second grade classes of Mrs. Hale, Ms. Atterberry and Mrs. Melton-Farmer were the next to perform. “When Santa Plays His Ukulele” and “Jingle Jive” were their songs, and the crowd loved their performance, which was directed by Mrs. Chafin.

Third graders performed more traditional Christmas carols, singing “Deck the Halls” and “What Child is This.” The students of Ms. Creek, Mrs. Ferguson and Ms. Miller were also led by Mrs. Chafin. Though some of the students who performed earlier and their families were already leaving the building at this point, those who remained were not disappointed and applauded the hard work of the students on their Christmas program performances.

The final group of the evening was the fourth grade classes of Mrs. Coffey, Mrs. Keller and Mrs. Shepherd. “Snow, Snow, Snow” and “May There Be Goodwill” were the songs they sang. This more senior group of elementary performers may have lacked the animation of their younger counterparts, but they gave a good performance, much to the pleasure of their audience. They were also directed by Mrs. Chafin.

All who participated in this year’s Licking Elementary School Christmas Concert should be proud of their efforts in delivering many great performances.
