Vendors should be set up and ready to go before the 9 a.m. Opening Ceremony at the Licking Fall Festival, Saturday, September 20, at the mill.

The Licking Fall Festival “Pickin’ on the Porch” is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, on the lawn of the historic Licking Mill. A day of activities, vendors, music and more is planned, so bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the day.

The Opening Ceremony and Military Tribute will start at 9 a.m., with Licking FFA members helping with the ceremony. Vendors will be set up and ready for shoppers by 9 a.m., and it’s not too late to get a booth if you want to be a vendor! First responders and business booths highlighting services available in the area will also be starting at 9 a.m. Expect members of the Licking Fire Department with a fire truck, greeting those attending the festival.

The Licking Police Department will be working along with the Texas County Health Department to provide a Car Seat Safety Check to all who are interested.

Members of the TCMH Licking Clinic will be on hand to share information about their services, as will Hickory Manor, Phelps Health, Three Rivers Hospice and possibly more healthcare organizations.

Texas County Library-Licking Branch will have a booth again, so watch for a book giveaway. CASA will be a new organization at the festival – stop and see what invaluable service they provide to communities. The VFW/Auxiliary, another important part of the community, will also have a booth that day.

Stop by the booths, see what they offer, and watch for door prize drawings to be held throughout the day.

A new event this year will be the Tractor Show, which will run alongside the vendor event, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Licking FFA Chapter will be sponsoring the show, so bring your favorite tractor and compete for first place. Parking for trailers can be found by the Buckner & Gately Auction barn.

At 10 a.m., Michael Connor will be “Pickin’ on the Porch,” so come by and enjoy the music. Kids games, storytelling and mill tours will occur throughout the day, and don’t miss the Hog Calling Contest at noon. Michael Connor returns to the stage (porch) at 1 p.m., and the Old Fashioned Quilt Turning will be held at 2 p.m. This event has had some beautifully created pieces of textile art and heirlooms over the past few years. Anticipate more incredible quilts at this year’s show.

It’s a day of fun for everyone in the family, so stop by and stay awhile at the Licking Fall Festival.
