Obituary – Emily E. Parker

Mrs. Emily Ernestine Hood Parker, age 54, passed away from cancer on Saturday morning, June 14, 2025, at her home surrounded by family and friends in Licking. She was born to the late Darrell E. and Patricia E. York Hood. Emily was preceded in death by her husband of eleven years, Drake Parker, on September 8, 2024, in Huntsville, Mo. They were married on June 6, 2014, in Houston, Missouri. They had no children together but Drake brought a son, Dylan Parker, and a daughter, Malorie Kueper to the marriage.
Emily never met a stranger. Emily was a friendly, kind, feisty, loving person who would help anyone she believed needed a kind word, a big hug, or a lifting of spirit.
Emily started and finished her education at Licking R-8 School District where she made many friends through the years. Emily began her career at Rawlings Manufacturing where she worked at various positions but ended up as a screen printer. Emily worked various manufacturing jobs over the years and made numerous friends. But her favorite job was working as a sales/reservations clerk at Montauk State Park in Dent County, Mo., where Emily and Drake both worked before his passing. Emily met new people and made lasting friendships with some of the patrons and employees from the park. Emily was loved for her strong work ethic and friendly nature.
Emily enjoyed being in nature, whether it was planting flowers or a garden, raising animals, or loving on her many pets through the years. She’s even been known to pick up a fishing pole and show you what it was used for. She loved family gatherings of any kind that gave her an opportunity to prepare food for the people she loved and get to catch up with everyone’s lives. Many a day was spent celebrating a birthday or a holiday with her parents, brothers, sisters, and extended family and friends.
Emily is preceded in death by her parents, Darrell and Patricia York Hood; one brother, Kenneth E. Hood; brothers-in-law, John Stroder, and David Parker; and grandparents, Hugh and Ola Mae Hood and Cyrus and Lydia York.
Emily is survived by her brother, Doyle E. Hood; sisters, Trina Stroder, of Licking, Maxine (Tracy) Stevens, of Mammoth Springs, Ark., Walttreia Potts, of Raymondville, Glenda Hood, of Mammoth Springs, and Paula (Freddy) Martin, of Licking; sisters and brothers-in-law, Christine (Tina) Hood, Laura (Terry) Gant, Lesa (Fred) Wells, Derrick (Tammy) Parker, Darin (Elaine) Parker, and Launa (Steve) Corbitt. Emily had many nieces and nephews, Matthew Hood, Brent Stevens, Brandi Stevens Shaw, Rusty Stevens, Christopher (Brandy) Hood, Robert (Courtney) Hood, Jessica Hood Robbins, Pamela Stroder, Lydia Potts Byers, Patrick Potts, Ricky Martin and Nicholis Martin; and many great-nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins and friends.
Emily learned of the Lord’s love and saving grace at an early age while attending Boone Creek Baptist Church, and then in her later years at Licking Pentecostal Holiness Church.
A funeral service for Emily will be observed at the Licking Pentecostal Holiness Church on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 12 p.m. A visitation will take place one hour prior to service time. Online condolences may be left at www.foxfh.net. Arrangements are entrusted to Fox Funeral Home.
