Obituary: Elvin “Huck” Lane Jr.

Elvin “Huck” Lane Jr., age 66, passed away on April 3, 2025, in Rolla, Missouri, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 16, 1958, to Elvin Sr. and Margaret Lane, in Waynesville, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; son Vance Lane (Charlene), of Licking; grandchildren, Logan and Kameryn Lane, of Licking, Alissa Gallamore (Eric), of Houston, Tayler Reber (Skylar), of Arizona; great-grandchildren, Adeline, Dawson and Aubrey; sister Janet Mohrman (Charles), of Raymondville; sister-in-law, Donna Otis, of Rolla; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, family and friends.

Huck is preceded in death by his parents, Elvin Sr. and Margaret Lane; brother, William Duane Lane; and granddaughter, Madison Lee.

Huck grew up in Duke, Missouri, until moving to Kansas and later returning to Licking, Missouri, where he graduated from Licking High School in 1976. Huck later met the love of his life, Carol, in 1979, married on December 21, 1979, and to this marriage was born their son, Vance Lane.

Huck worked several jobs, including George O. White Nursery, Powell’s Lumber in Rolla, and Walmart, from which he retired after 25 years of service.

Huck was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs and Jeff Gordon fan, with a deep passion for history. He was especially fond of aircraft and military-related memorabilia, which he collected with great enthusiasm. Huck also enjoyed reading Stephen King books and had a diverse taste in music, listening to all genres.

Huck was a devoted family man, always putting his son and grandchildren first. His family meant the world to him and his love and dedication to them were evident in everything he did. Huck also loved his dog, Dusty. They were inseparable. Huck’s generosity, kindness, and the time he devoted to creating cherished memories with his loved ones are what truly define him.

He will be greatly missed by all who love and know him.

A visitation took place Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home. A funeral service followed at 1 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Boone Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alex Mohrman, Hank Lute, Logan Lane, Charles Mohrman, Larry Cooper Jr. and Hunter Trentham. Online condolences may be left at www.foxfh.net.
