Obituary – Carol S. Brookshire

 

Carol Sue Brookshire, of Rolla, Mo., passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, at the age of 83.

She was born on January 14, 1941, in Taylorville, Ill., to the late Harold Schroyer and Barbara (Check) Schroyer. Carol graduated from the Licking High School in 1959. On January 30, 1960, she married Fred Brookshire at the First Methodist Church in Licking, Mo.

Carol enjoyed spending time at the lake crappie fishing with Fred, scrapbooking, making special occasion cards for her friends and family, sewing and painting. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Carol was a real estate agent and retired as the Human Resource Director for Brake Parts Inc. in Cuba, Mo. She was a lifetime member of First Assembly of God in Rolla, serving in many capacities.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Lacy and Delpha Brookshire, two sisters-in-law, Judy Brookshire and Billie Ruth Harvey; and a brother-in-law, Allen Brookshire.

Carol will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes: her husband, Fred Brookshire of Rolla; a daughter, Chris Skyles and husband, Eugene of Rolla; two sons, Brian Brookshire and wife, Laura, of Hartsburg, and Brad Brookshire and wife, Paula of Freemont Hills; two sisters, Pat Sibley and husband, Richard, and Beverly Moder and husband, Bill; one brother, Harold Schroyer, Jr. and wife, Michele; brother-in-law, Ted Brookshire; two sisters-in-law, Rosie Stoffer and Barbara Blanton; grandchildren, Lindsay Davis and husband, Justin, Jared Skyles and wife, Kenda, Emily Dohrman and husband, Tyler, Luke Brookshire and wife, Samantha, Brett Brookshire, Ben Brookshire, Coy Brookshire, Jessica Brookshire and Candace Brookshire; great-grandchildren, Mason, Jace, Reid, Huntleigh, Nora, Charlie, Isla, Meyer and Maddox; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service for Carol S. Brookshire will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the First Assembly of God in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Rolla City Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, at the church.
