Obituary – Everett “Gene” Affolter

Everett Eugene “Gene” Affolter, of Newburg, Mo., passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the age of 78.
He was born on July 15, 1945, in Rolla, Mo., to the late Everett Samuel Affolter and Garnet Rowena (Bunch) Affolter. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Ray Affolter.
Gene enjoyed farming, fishing trips, coon hunting and trapping, and his coon dogs. He loved going to the sale barn and coffee shop. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandkids.
Gene will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes: one son, Lance Affolter and partner Jerry Vuchak, of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Jeanine York and husband Robert, of Union, Mo., and Kelly Grizzle and husband David, of Boonville, Mo.; two brothers, John Affolter and wife Dorothy, of Newburg, and Cecil Affolter and wife Jennifer, of Jerome, Mo.; five grandchildren, Heather Elliott and husband Scott, Quentin York and Allison Brautigam, Wyatt Grizzle, Abbie Grizzle and Chloe Grizzle; and two great-grandchildren, Connor Elliott and Kayleigh Elliott.
A funeral service for Gene Affolter was conducted at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment followed in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends was held prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
