Obituary – Isaac L. Haden
Isaac Lee Haden, age 22, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, in Rolla, Mo. He was born January 29, 2002, in Springfield, Mo. Isaac was saved at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Licking at an early age. He was baptized in August of 2011, at the Licking Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his parents, Jannette and Scott Gerard, of Licking, and Joseph Haden, of Tulsa, Okla.; siblings, Jonah and Luke Henderson, and Genesis Gerard, of Licking and Brooklyn Tovey, of St. Joseph, Mo.; grandparents, Judy and Jerry Satterfield “Mimi and Popi,” of Licking, Janice Franke “Nana,” of Walnut Grove, Mo., and grandma, Micky Gerard, of Lebanon; uncles, Jared Satterfield (Carolyn), of Licking and Larry Fraser, of Fremont Hills; aunt, Lisa Lowery; cousins, Austin Satterfield (Kameron), Haley Falterman (Jeremy), Mason Satterfield, Georgia Fraser, Tanya Black (Jack), Petra Haden, Rachel Haden, Josh Haden, Anthony Sherrer, Andrew Gerard and Alexander Lowery; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Isaac graduated from Licking High School, class of 2020. In high school, Isaac enjoyed band and qualified to go the State Competition and concert. He participated as one of the top ten tuba players in the state. He loved music and played tuba, trumpet, piano, trombone, baritone, clarinet, cello, banjo, guitar, violin and harmonica. He was a member of FBLA and was on the Math team and of course always placed first. He also enjoyed the Science Club events and other outdoor activities. His favorite teachers in high school include Doc Hatch, Mr. Holmes, Ben Sullins and Stacey Hutsell. They not only mentored him but also went above and beyond to help Isaac reach his goals and dreams.
Isaac received $80,000 in Scholarships for his academic achievements. Isaac scored a 33 on the ACT, placing him in the top 1 percent of the nation. He received other scholarships based on his outstanding character and citizenship. Isaac chose MS&T University in Rolla to be close to his family. He received lots of offers from other schools, including Princeton University and Westpoint, which he declined. He was a member of ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers). He was an active member of the Steel Bridges Team. He had a strong desire to focus his talents on improving our community and how he could make it better with his engineering degree. Even though he could have worked anywhere in the world, he wanted to focus his talents on our area so we could have better roads, bridges and parks. He especially wanted to make Schafer Road better for the community. His passion was to increase his knowledge of anything and everything. He was very knowledgeable in all subjects and was able to store information in his mind and then apply it as needed, and used it to help people. He used his knowledge to tutor his sister, brothers, cousins and others. Isaac did not care about material possessions but if he saw you needed anything, he would give it to you.
He loved to kayak, swim and hike. He enjoyed gun and bow target practice with his brothers and sister at his grandfather’s house. Isaac looked up to his Grandpa Jerry for direction and had great respect for him. They understood each other well and had a special connection. One of his favorite activities was going to the flea markets with Mimi and Nana; he got his frugalness from them. Isaac was an old soul. He helped his mom and grandmothers in their flower and vegetable gardens. He planted tulips the last couple of years. Isaac had a special relationship with his uncles. He enjoyed opportunities to talk to his Uncle Larry about computers and other intellectual subjects that they had in common. He enjoyed numerous outdoor activities with his Uncle Jared, fishing and floating on the river, and climbing pine trees in his uncle’s yard.
He was a part of the Astronomy Club and took his brothers last month to Eminence to view the eclipse. He loved gaming with his brothers and with people from all around the world. He has friends in many countries and spoke fluent Russian. Isaac wanted to use his talents in engineering and language to help people rebuild Ukraine one day. He had an interest in language and spoke many different languages, enjoyed studying Mandarin, German, Japanese and others. He was a volunteer of Kindred Spirits Pet Therapy his whole life. Isaac was a loving, thoughtful, giving, protective brother, son and grandson. Isaac was known to never speak negatively about anyone. Isaac was infinitely generous and kind, selfless in all things and had the most beautiful mind and caring soul. Everyone who met Isaac learned something from him and we will carry his goodness in our hearts forever.
A visitation for Isaac took place Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home. A funeral service took place Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Licking Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial followed in Licking Cemetery.
