Fall Choral Concert showcases vocal talent

Director Kerri Chafin leads the Licking High School Choir through a rendition of “Johnny Said No!” in which the separate voice parts of the song (Soprano I, Soprano II, and Alto) weave independent, overlapping melodies and rhythmic lines together. This made it a challenging piece for the vocalists, who performed it well.

Licking Middle School and High School presented their Fall Choral Concert Monday evening at Licking Assembly of God Church.

The Middle School Choir began the program with two pieces, “Seize the Day” and “Hurricane.”

Tasha Ogden and Khloie Bartlett were presenters, and duets were featured during the pieces which included Kimberlynn Berriault, Khloie Bartlett, Ashtin Buckner, Barbara Wilson, Emma Gorman, Annabel Harris, Tasha Ogden and Faelynn Hargrave. Other Middle School Choir members were Allyson Baker, Emma Gray, Suize Lee, Eva Sonsoucie and Kohlbi Wells.

The High School Choir performed four numbers, “I’ll Say It Anyway,” “Johnny Said No!”, “I Leave You with a Song,” and “Light of a Clear Blue Morning.”

Presenters were Luci Todaro, Diane Gooding, Rose Smith and Holly Nelson. Reece Lozoya was a soloist, and Josie Gifford, Gwen Campbell and Ava Walker performed as a trio. Other members of the High School Choir included Dolce Buehler, Victorriea Chappell, Layney Gifford, Annabel Godi, Kaylin Jackson, Aubree Keogh, Kaylee Kilgore, Malaina Lonning, Ashley Rodabaugh, Bella Routh, Alyvia Turrubiates and Autumn Wiebe.

Both choirs are under the direction of Mrs. Kerri Chafin.

To hear these talented vocalists, mark your calendars for their next performances. The Licking High School Christmas Performance at the Missouri State Capital Rotunda will be Wednesday, December 3. The Licking Middle and High School Christmas Choral Concert will be held Sunday, December 13, at 6 p.m., at Licking Assembly of God.
