Obituary – Harvey E. Sullins Sr.

Harvey Everett Sullins, Sr., was born March 5, 1939, to Clabe and Clara Mae Sullins of Kinder Post in Licking, Missouri. He stepped into God’s glory peacefully and without pain at Phelps Health Hospital in Rolla, Missouri, on August 5, 2026, at the age of 87.
While in the hospital; God allowed many family members and friends the precious gift of time to love him and say goodbye. Harvey was a strong man in many ways, he had a gift to tell stories and jokes. He loved to tell them to anyone that would listen. He was a kind and gentle soul that loved BIG. He never met a stranger and if you were lucky enough to have him in your life, you were blessed.
On July 1, 1961, he married the love of his life, Carol, and they were married for 65 years. They had three children. He often said he had the most beautiful wife and what a blessing she was to him. He also loved his children, they were his circle. A circle that was not broken even during his death. Harvey was saved and baptized early in his life and was a member and deacon of Success Baptist Church and walked with the Lord daily.
As most of you know, Harvey enjoyed fishing. He could out fish anyone and he was known as the fishing legend. However, during a fishing trip with his grandsons Kris, Preston, and son in law Kevin, Preston and Kris out fished him on that day and grandpa was not a happy camper. I still believe he holds the title of the “Legend,” as he could catch them faster than anyone could imagine. He was also an avid hunter and spent many years hunting fox, squirrel, rabbit, etc. He enjoyed making many memories with family and friends. Especially his brother Frank and dear friend Leslie Welch.
Harvey enjoyed spending time with his grandkids/great-grandkids; each one held a special place in his heart in many different ways; he was blessed with so many. He also enjoyed spending time with his siblings. He had a close relationship with all of them and loved them all so much. Harvey was the heart of his family; his family is BIG, that is why he loved BIG.
Those left with beautiful and precious memories are his wife Carol, his children: daughter Teresa Irwin and husband Kevin, daughter Tammy Wade and husband Larry; and son Harvey Sullins Jr.; five grandchildren: Tosha, Dillon and wife Shawna, Kris and wife Heather, Preston and wife Tory, and Owen; ten great-grandchildren: Cadence and husband Ethan, Aspen, Presley, Uriah, Kinlee, Bodee, Kyla, Avigayil, and Braelynn; sister Zedna Ullom and husband Kenny, sister Geneva Sullins, brother-in-law Bub Huff and sister-in-law Sharon Kay; niece Marilyn Friend and niece Bailey Booker who has been with his wife during this very sad and difficult time; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
