The annual Fireworks Show at Deer Lick Park in Licking will be held on June 27 this year. This year’s event includes vendors, live music, extended pool hours, and a Fatal Vision program put on by the Licking Police Department.
The event begins at 5 p.m., with vendors offering a variety of food choices, including hot dogs, hamburgers, smashburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches, walking tacos, fried ravioli, cotton candy, funnel cakes, fresh squeezed lemonade, homemade ice cream, drinks and more. Glo merchandise, t-shirts and other items will also be available.
From 5 to 9 p.m., the Fatal Vision program will be presented by the Licking Police Department in partnership with the Southeast Coalition for Roadway Safety. Teens of driving age and young adults will be invited to use specialized simulation goggles in an interactive demonstration designed to illustrate the dangers and effects of various forms of impaired driving. The program provides a hands-on opportunity for participants to experience how alcohol, drugs, prescription medications, drowsiness, poor vision and reduced cognitive abilities can affect driving performance and decision-making.
The band The Hired Guns will entertain with live music from 6-9 p.m. at the park.
The pool is offering extended hours until 8 p.m. that evening as well.
This year’s fireworks display should begin around 9:15 p.m., and the pyrotechnician promises to light up the sky with red, white and blue for America’s 250 anniversary.
