Obituary – Larry D. Booker

Larry Dale Booker was born November 8, 1944, in Waynesville, Missouri, to Martin William “Bud” Booker and Mary Bell (Gan) Booker. He passed away at home May 6, 2026.
The family moved to Texas County in 1949 to a farm on Arthur’s Creek and the Big Piney River. Larry attended Arthur’s Creek School until consolidation in the mid 1950s. After that he attended Licking School and graduated in 1963. Larry married Wanda Beasley and to this union two sons were born, Jeffrey Dale and Shawn Lee. He later married Sondra Carlson and to this marriage brought her son, Dylan. Larry was saved and baptized in 1973 and was a member of Boone Creek Baptist Church. Later, Larry served many years on the Boone Creek Cemetery Board.
After school he moved to St. Louis and worked for a flight service at Lambert Field. He worked for McDonnell Douglas for nine years before moving back home in April of 1972. Larry then bought a dump truck and started his own business for the next 53 years where he made a lot of good friends and customers. Larry loved being outdoors and farming, gardening, riding horses, and just being on the farm and especially with the cattle.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeff; and stepson, Dylan; brothers, Lawrence, Richard (Cotton); sister, Lena Mesplay; and infant sister, Loreca Marie.
He is survived by his wife, Sondra; his son, Shawn; grandson, Aaron; granddaughter, Sydnee; brother, James “Red” Booker; sister, Rosie Lea Stofer; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Larry will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial visitation for Larry will take place Friday, May 15, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Boone Creek Cemetery at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boone Creek Cemetery.
