Weekend Craft Festival to support the mill

Photo submitted

The annual Licking Mill Craft and Treasure Fest will be held on Saturday, May 16, on the lawn of the historic Licking Mill. This promises to be a good year for the festival, with several new craft vendors, food, and great music by Licking native Cadrian Hutsell, who will be performing on the porch of the mill.

New craft vendors will be on hand, and vendors plan to bring handpainted, rough cut signs, custom engraved jewelry, freeze-dried candy, crochet items, cosmetic bags, tumblers, hats, quilted sewing bags, wallets, handpainted craft items, woodworking, old tools, t-shirts, hoodies and more.

The Lewis family will be bringing their lemonade trailer; a food truck will offer hamburgers, chicken, hot dogs and more; Uncle Charlie’s Concessions will have funnel cakes, sno cones and blooming onions; and Club Phoenix volleyball will be having an ice cream fundraiser in the Rock House Vintage Market.

Cadrian Hutsell, whose singing has gathered her several fans in the area and in Cape Girardeau, will be performing at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., says to get ready to hear some Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss, Kacey Musgraves, some original songs written by Hutsell, and more! Bring a lawn chair and stay to enjoy the music.

The day will begin at 8:45 a.m. with a salute to veterans, with FFA members displaying the flags of the different branches of the military. Mill tours are scheduled at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., also courtesy of the FFA. Kids games will be held on the lawn throughout the day, and storytelling will be at 9 and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

A photo op will be available with a mill backdrop, which was created by art students several years ago.

Other activities are being pursued, so come out and see what’s happening Saturday at the mill!
