This gentleman and his companion greeted travelers on the south side of Licking as they entered town.
In the ten mile stretch of US-63 from the northern Texas County line, south to the intersection of Rt. BB/Rt. P, local Carry the Cross organizer Michael McConnell and crew set out 48 crosses for the morning of Good Friday. Locals and visitors to the area gathered at their assigned locations the morning of Good Friday to Carry the Cross, professing their faith and their gratitude for the sacrifice made by Jesus on the cross for their sins.
People of all ages held up the cross that morning, including church groups, residential care residents, families, friends and individuals. Passersby were greeted with smiles and waves, and many honked and waved in return to show their support. The annual event has become a tradition for many in the area, and can truly lighten the heart and the burdens of those who witness it.
