Work on new water tower progresses

A roof bonnet has been installed over the new water tower.
The City of Licking’s new water tower has begun to metamorphose from its initial rust-colored appearance.
Crews have placed a roof bonnet on the tower, similar in appearance to a shower cap. Another tarp at the bottom of the tower is raised each day as well. Their purpose is to catch abrasives and overspray while crews are sandblasting both the interior and exterior of the tower.
As of Tuesday morning, the work crew was working inside the tower, but they anticipated progressing to exterior sandblasting on Wednesday. When the sandblasting is finished, the crew will begin painting the tower. The addition of logos on the painted structure will complete the metamorphosis.
