Wildcats 6-1 in Frisco League play

By Coach Chris Harris
On Tuesday, February 10, the Wildcats traveled to Newburg in a Frisco League matchup.
The Varsity Cats came out hot, scoring 23 points in the first quarter and holding Newburg to 11 points. A late surge from the Wolves at the end of the second quarter cut into the lead, but the Cats responded in the third quarter, scoring 32 points to help stretch the lead. A big fourth quarter from Conway Adey, who had 17 points in the quarter, helped increase the lead to 20, with the final being 97-76. The win moved the team’s record to 12-10 and 6-1 in the conference.
Conway Adey had a big night, scoring 42 points and grabbing 23 rebounds; Karson Walker had 25 points and 7 assists; Jett Sullins had 13 points and Jason Ingram added 12 more points.
In the JV game, the Cats came out on top 45-37, controlling the game from the start and scoring 16 first quarter points. The defense kept the Wolves from having any big offensive quarters.
Brayden Moberly had 14 points and Parker Huff added 12.
Thursday night, the Wildcats traveled to Mountain View to face the Liberty Eagles.
In the varsity game, the Cats fell to the Eagles 59-82.
The Cats played hard and worked together but the hot shooting Eagles’ big third quarter was too much to make up. The Wildcats didn’t give up and continued to play hard to the very end.
Karson Walker had 19 points, Jett Sullins had 10 points, and Conway Adey had 10 points and 9 rebounds. The Wildcat’s record is now 12-11 and they face the Plato Eagles on Tuesday for senior night and a Frisco League matchup.
In the JV game the Cats struggled early to score, but a 23-point second quarter got them right back into the game and they only trailed by 3 at halftime. The Eagles were able to increase their lead in the third, but the Cats kept clawing back. The Cats were unable to get back within ten, losing 49-60.
It was a big night for Parker Huff, who scored 40 points, dropping 20 of them in the second quarter.
