Obituary – Rose Green-Skyles

Rose Ellen Green-Skyles went to be with her Lord on December 10, 2024, at the age of 85.
Rose was devoted to her family and was a treasured mother, “Mimi,” Great Mimi, Great-Great Mimi to a family that returned her love equally.
Rose was a gracious servant all of her life. Her heart was one of providing for the needs of our communities which shined brightly in her 28-year teaching career in Salem, Houston, Rolla and, the majority of her career, in Licking. She served many roles in her life-long church at First Assembly of God in Rolla. Of these roles was the Benevolence Committee, Sunday School Teacher, Kids First and anywhere else there was a need.
Rose was born on July 9, 1939, and taken into the care of her parents, Andy and Dorothy Waterman, of Rolla, Mo., on March 14, 1940, at the age of seven months, with the adoption completing on May 8, 1941.
She was a graduate of Rolla High School, class of 1958, and furthered her education at Southwest Missouri State College, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree on May 22, 1962.
Rose was married to Robert Larry “Bob” Green on December 24, 1964. They had four children, sons Greg Green and Brad Green, and daughters Christine Green (White) and Vanessa Green (Higgins).
Rose remarried William David Skyles on January 9, 1993. A blended family began with David’s children, Eugene Skyles, Debbie Skyles (Cartwright) and Dewayne Skyles.
Rose is survived by her husband, David Skyles, of nearly 32 years, her son Greg Green and wife Sharida, son Evan Green, Alyssa and Josh Albers and Dawson Havens; her son Brad Green, grandson Hayden Green and wife Ali and great-granddaughter Charlie, grandson Tanner Green and wife Chloe, grandsons Walker and Gibson Green; her daughter Christine White and husband Andy, granddaughter Rorry Prahl and husband Devin, grandson Parker White and wife Jordan, and step great-granddaughter Presley; her daughter Vanessa Higgins and husband Todd, granddaughter Lacey and grandson Luke.
Rose is also survived by her stepson Eugene Skyles and wife Chris, Jared Skyles and wife Kenda, great-grandchildren Jace and Huntley, granddaughter Lindsay Davis and husband Justin, grandsons Mason and Reid; her stepdaughter Debbie Cartwright, Heather Furse and husband Sylvester, great-grandsons Ryker and Kanon; her stepson Dewayne Skyles and wife Cathy, grandson Brandon Skyles and wife Amy, great-grandson Ethan and wife Torie and great-granddaughter Gracie, granddaughter Brittany Frazee and husband Randy, great-granddaughter McKenzie Hanshew and great-great-grandson Kyrie, and great-granddaughter Ryleigh, great-grandson Charles Skyles, great-granddaughter Samantha Skyles, great-granddaughter Rebecca Blair and husband Dawson, and great-great-granddaughter Hadley.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Andy and Dorothy Waterman, and brother, Jim Waterman, of Rolla, Mo. Also preceding her death was Charles and Edna Skyles, father and mother-in-law, and Dan Cartwright.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, December 30, at First Assembly of God, Rolla with a visitation at 10 a.m. and service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kid’s First ministry at First Assembly of God, Rolla.
