Obituary – Susan J. Barton

Susan Janett Barton, of Desloge, Mo., passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the age of 59, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born on August 17, 1964, in Houston, Mo., to Wilfred Black and Geneva (Rose) Black. On November 26, 1993, she married Leeman Barton in Lecoma, Mo.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Wilfred Black, and a sister, Millie Hatfield.

Susan had a green thumb and loved to garden, especially raising beautiful flowers. She was an animal lover and loved her dogs and cats. She also enjoyed music and going to concerts. Most of all, she found joy in spending time with her family.

Susan will be greatly missed by her surviving family, which includes: her husband, Leeman Barton of Desloge, Mo.; her mother, Geneva Black of Rolla, Mo.; a son William Barton and fiancé, Jessica Williams of Desloge, Mo.; a stepson, Buddy; three stepdaughters, Tammy, Angie and Denise; a brother, Donald Humphrey and wife, Barbara, of Edgar Springs, Mo.; three sisters, Teresa McElfresh and husband, David of Duke, Mo., Mary Barton of Lowry City, Mo., and Sue Burton of Rolla, Mo.; special adopted grandchildren, Aerolynn and Mia; step grandchildren, Brett, Hali, Jacob, Chasity and Brendan; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and many friends.

A funeral service for Susan J. Barton was conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment followed in the Anutt Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends was held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 1, at the funeral home.
