THANKSGIVING COMMUNITY DINNER

A bountiful Thanksgiving feast, lovingly prepared with love and abundance, will be served starting at 12 noon on Thursday, November 27, at Licking Assembly of God. The entire City of Licking and the surrounding area are invited to share turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, green bean casserole, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls and assorted desserts.

LIGHTING OF THE MILL

The annual Lighting of the Mill will take place the evening of Saturday, November 29. Join the fun with Santa, caroling, cookies and cocoa!

LICKING UNITED METHODIST WOMEN’S CHRISTMAS GATHERING

The Licking United Methodist Women will host a Women’s Christmas Gathering at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 5. Please contact 573-674-3686 for more information on how to purchase tickets. RSVP by November 21 to LUMCwomen@gmail.com.

TEXAS COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART & HISTORY MINI EXHIBIT

The Texas County Museum of Art & History is hosting a mini Art Exhibit throughout the month of November. Stop by and view the works by local artists, which make great Christmas gifts. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays and Tuesdays.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT SHOW AND PARADE

The annual Christmas Craft Show and Parade will be held beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 6. The VFW Hall will host the Craft Show starting at 9 a.m. and Santa at 11 a.m.-1 p.m., then Santa will travel to the Mill at 1:30 p.m. to hand out toys before the parade at 4 p.m. Parade lineup is at 3 p.m. The parade theme is “O What Fun.” Vendors need to contact Joan Brannam at 573-674-2547 to have a spot reserved.

COOKIES BY THE POUND

The Texas County Museum of Art & History will sell homemade cookies by the pound on Saturday, December 6, during the downtown Christmas festivities. All proceeds will support the Museum.

NSDAR DECEMBER MEETING

The Noah Coleman Chapter, NSDAR, is scheduled to meet at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, at Colton’s in Rolla. Beth Ayres will introduce “Sleep in Heavenly Peace,” an organization that makes twin beds and supplies bedding for children in our area without beds or bedding. While shopping, remember these less fortunate children and pick up a set of twin size sheets with a pillowcase to bring to the meeting or drop off at The Licking News office prior to the meeting. Guests are always welcome.

CHRISTMAS CARDS FOR LRC

Twenty residents at Licking Residential Care (LRC) have put on their wish list to receive Christmas cards or mail for the holiday. If you would like to send a card or letter you can send it to: Licking Residential Care, 225 West Hwy 32, Licking, MO 65542.

GUN AND QUILT RAFFLE

The Fleet Reserve Association FRA Branch 364 is holding a Gun and Quilt Raffle. The raffles are in support of college scholarships. For more information call David Herndon at 417-967-0661.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE

It’s always a book sale at the Book Nook, open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays and Tuesdays, at the Texas County Museum of Art & History. Come in and support your local Friends of the Library and take home a bargain bag of books.

RECOVERY UNDERGROUND

Recovery Underground, a local support group, meets at 6 p.m. on Mondays, a Bible study at 6 p.m. on Thursdays, and Church at 6 p.m. on Saturdays, each week at 108 Main Street in Licking. For more information call Jake Carver at 573-889-7785.

GRIEF AND LOSS RECOVERY GROUP

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7:30 p.m. every Tuesday at the Licking United Methodist Church.

FREE ADDICTION RECOVERY CLASS

A program to help you overcome any form of addiction, based on the doctrine of Jesus Christ. If you or a loved one are struggling, please come! Every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Hwy. 63 and Hwy. E, Houston.

AOG LEGACY SERVICE

The Licking Assembly of God invites all to attend their weekly Legacy Service, held from 1 – 2 p.m. every Wednesday. This non-denominational service was begun to provide an option for those who wish to attend a mid-week service held during daylight hours.

LYNCH TOWNSHIP

Lynch Township’s meetings are the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m., at the Lynch Township Shed, 14472 Boiling Springs Road.

SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION

Sons of the American Legion (SAL) will meet the first Thursday of each month at the Licking VFW Hall. Meet and greet begins at 4 p.m., with the meeting from 6 – 7 p.m.

DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP

The Phelps Health Diabetes Support Group meets the second Tuesday of each month, from 4 to 5 p.m., at the Delbert Day Cancer Institute. Call 573-458-7314 for information.

SHERRILL TOWNSHIP

Sherrill Township meets at 5:30 p.m. every other Thursday at the township shed located at 11875 South 137, in Licking. The next meeting is December 11 due to Thanksgiving.

BOONE TOWNSHIP MEETING

Boone Township meets the second Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. The next meeting will be December 11, at the Township Shed, 16245 Highway AF, Licking.

PARKINSON’S AND CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

The Phelps Health Parkinson’s and Caregivers Support Group meets the third Tuesday of each month, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., at the Delbert Day Cancer Institute. Call 573-458-3007 for information.

OZARK MOUNTAIN AMATEUR RADIO CLUB

The Ozark Mountain Amateur Radio Club meets the third Saturday of each month, at noon at the Lone Star Annex, 114 W. Main St. in downtown Houston. TEXAS COUNTY TRANSPORTATION

Licking Bridge Builders has transportation available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To ride the bus, please make your appointment at least a day in advance by calling 573-674-3558 and talking with a volunteer.
