Campbell auditions for State Honor Choir

The South Central Missouri Music Educators Association (SCMMEA) hosted its district auditions for its 9/10 and 11/12 District Honor Choirs at Kickapoo High School in Springfield, on Saturday, September 20. Five students from the Licking High School Concert Choir participated in the audition process.

Freshmen Tesla Morrison and Riley Shearing auditioned for the 9/10 honor choir, and juniors Gwen Campbell and Reece Lozoya, and senior Araya Manson auditioned for the 11/12 honor choir. Gwen Campbell was selected as a member of the 11/12 District Honor Choir. Her audition also placed her in the top 25 of her voice category, qualifying her to audition for the Missouri All-State choir.

Ms. Campbell auditioned for the All-State choir and performed with the SCMMEA District Honor Choir at Evangel University on Saturday, November 1. Although she was not selected for the All-State Choir, LHS Choir Director Kerri Chafin said she did very well with her audition.

Other upcoming opportunities to hear performances of the school’s music department include:

• The Veteran’s Day Assembly, 9 a.m. on November 11, at the Sherman Hill Fieldhouse.

• The Jr. High and High School Band and Choir Christmas Concert, 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, at the Sherman Hill Fieldhouse.

• Christmas at the Capitol, on Wednesday, December 10, at the Missouri State Capitol FIrst Floor Rotunda.

• The Licking Elementary School Christmas Concert, 6 p.m. on Monday, December 15, at the Sherman Hill Fieldhouse.
