Students and teachers gathered in the courtyard near the flagpole at Licking High School and more gathered at the Elementary campus on Wednesday morning before the start of school for the annual See You At The Pole (SYATP) prayer gathering. They joined more than three million people across the country at similar SYATP gatherings. The event brings together people to pray for their schools, communities, nation or other concerns.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) advisor Cole Roark introduced the five FCA captains who led the prayers. They each recited Bible verses, followed by a prayer. Karson Walker, Hadlee Davis, Easton Stoops, Logan Buckner and Jerry Hofstetter were the captains speaking at the high school gathering. A prolonged moment of silence was honored afterward where those attending could say their own prayers.
At the Elementary campus, the teacher sponsor was Anna Flatley. High school students who led the elementary SYATP event included Avery Stephens, Lilly Godi, Isaac Rinne and Mylie Peterson.
These young leaders also lead daily Bible studies before classes for students who are interested.
