Wildcat Volleyball wins second in Cuba Tournament

The Wildcat Volleyball team started the week with some heartfelt losses, starting the week with a loss – 15-25, 17-25, 28-30 – to Willow Springs on the road on Monday, September 15.

Their next match was a home contest against Cabool, and though they took it to four sets, the Lady Wildcats saw another loss, 14-25, 22-25, 25-18, 22-25.

Despite the losses, the Lady Wildcats remained confident and traveled to Cuba Saturday for a tournament. Licking split with Jefferson (Festus) 25-13 and 20-25, defeated Viburnum 25-21 and 25-19, split with Herculaneum 25-15, 17-25, and topped Belle 25-19 and 25-22.

In the semifinal round, Licking defeated Cuba 27-25 and 26-24, after being down 9-20 and coming back to win, fueled by Bailee Medlock’s 11 straight points served.

The championship match pitted Licking against Jefferson (Festus) again, but this time the Lady Wildcats came up short, losing 18-25 and 22-25 to secure the second place plaque.
